TM2010: How to setup Task Manager 2010 for Citrix® or Windows® Terminal Server use

Applies to: Orbisoft Task Manager 2010.

Novice | Intermediate | Advanced

SUMMARY

Some users may want to allow users to utilize Citrix® or Windows® Terminal Server (WTS) sessions to access Task Manager 2010 over the web.

Note that a Task Manager 2010 user-license is required for each user that logs into Task Manager 2010 via Citrix or Windows Terminal Server. If you haven't got enough licenses to cover every user, you may purchase more at www.orbisoft.com/purchase.

This article describes how to setup your Citrix or WTS server for Task Manager 2010 concurrent multi-user use.

Create Separate Desktop Shortcuts and Program Folders for each user

Follow these instructions to set up your server:

  1. Using Windows Explorer, copy the original C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010 folder and its contents to three new folders as follows:

    C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010\

    copy to:

    C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010 - Joe Smith\
    C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010 - Mary Green\
    C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010 - Frank Brown\

  2. Make a copy of the original Task Manager Desktop Shortcut

  3. Amend the new desktop shortcut, renaming it from Task Manager 2010 Copy (1) to Task Manager 2010 - Joe Smith

  4. Edit the command line of the new shortcut (right-click it then select Properties), replacing:

    "C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010\Task Manager.mde"

    with:

    "C:\Program Files\Task Manager 2010 - Joe Smith\Task Manager.mde"

  5. Do the same for the other additional desktop shortcuts, e.g. Mary Green, Frank Brown

  6. Click each new shortcut to open Task Manager 2010. Select the appropriate Data.mdb file folder for each one via Tools>>, Edit/View Network.... Each user will then be accessing the same Data.mdb file (data back-end) while using their own front-end program (Task Manager.mde)

  7. Follow the steps above for any other team members you have listed under Tools>>, Edit/View Team Members...

  8. Make sure each user can only use their own particular desktop shortcut.
