Task Manager 2000 can record customer jobs as well as normal tasks. In the above example, "ABC Accounting Firm" would like to record a paying job from one of it's customers, "Roadside Development". The task is to prepare "Annual Financial Accounts" for them. Though the team member MUR (Mark Redford) will do the majority of work on this task, BAW (Belinda White) and KIJ (Kelly Jones) will also participate. Mark or Belinda may want to set a time budget for the work to be done. Tip If you don't want to set time budgets for your tasks but still want to have other participants recorded, enter a nominal value, e.g. "1", for the Time Budget Units next to the Person. Task Manager 2000 will then retain the participants. The Time Budget In the above example, Belinda decides that the task should take the respective time shown for each of the three participants. Belinda could have also set up a Template for the task description "Annual Financial Accounts", which would have brought up the appropriate time budget for this type of task. For more information on setting up your own templates, see the "Templates" Help topic under Task Manager 2000 Help Contents. The time measurement units 6, 200 and 13 shown are not minutes or hours, they are time units. These time units were set up under System Options as the time measurement system ABC Accounting Firm uses to record time, i.e., 6 minute blocks. You can choose your own measurement as ABC Accounting Firm has done, or you can accept the Task Manager 2000 default setting (1 unit = 1 hour). ________________________________________________ Estimated Fee Since Belinda set a time budget for this task, Task Manager 2000 has automatically calculated an estimated fee for it: $1000*. (* Note that the currency symbol will reflect your Windows Regional Setting, i.e., not necessarily the $ symbol.) If the task wasn't for a paying job (i.e.
it was for a normal task), Belinda could overwrite the
estimated fee with $0 (or by making sure the estimated
fee recalculation was off by clicking on the Click here to look at another method of setting time budgets for tasks that are paying jobs, or click the forward navigation button to proceed. |
