Add Tasks Advanced Cont... We have just looked at a method of setting a time budget for tasks that are paying jobs. That method was called the Time Units Budget Method. Another method which can be faster to use and can also result in job productivity increases is called the Fee Percentage Budget Method. |
||||
| Look at the Participant Section in the same example above. You will notice the previous heading "Time Budget (Units)" has been replaced by "Fee Breakdown 100 %". This new Fee Percentage Budget Method takes the Estimated Fee as a starting point for any task that is a paying job. Task Manager 2000 then automatically works backward, using pre-loaded team member charge rates and the split percentages (as shown) to calculate how much time each participant should spend on the task. The resulting time budget is shown on the Task Detail Report. As with the Time Units Budget Method, you can use your own templates based on task description to load these split percentages, or you can treat each task percentage as an ad-hoc entry. You can also fine tune any adjustments (percentage split or team member) for a particular task after a template is loaded. The percentage split between these categories must total 100%. ________________________________________________ Switching Methods 'on the fly' To change from the Time Units Budget Method to the Fee Percentage Budget Method or vice-versa 'on the fly' for a particular task, select Tools», Options», Budget Method», Change Now» from the Task Manager 2000 top menu bar. There is also a shortcut to do this quickly which will be explained the first time a switch is carried out. You can also set the default budget method for new tasks on the same menu.
